Ex-striker claims ‘strong rumours’ of Tottenham and teenage sensation deal ‘done’

Former Fulham striker and now BBC pundit Leroy Rosenior has claimed that Ryan Sessegnon’s future has already been decided, adding there have been “strong rumours” Tottenham Hotspur may well be the youngster’s next destination.

The 17-year-old has long been linked with a move to Spurs, with other clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool also both said to be interested.

However, according to the old Craven Cottage frontman, the next step in the left-sided utilitarian’s career has already been pre-determined ahead of a switch this summer, and the new White Hart Lane is believed to be the England Under-19 international’s most likely next port of call.

“I think that a deal has been done for Ryan as teams have been in for him”, Rosenior claimed on the Totally Football Show.

“It’s a Premier League side with strong rumours of Tottenham, I wouldn’t be surprised if other sides have been in for him as well.

“He stays at Fulham before moving in the summer, his future is already mapped out.”

Following Sessegnon’s success with Championship outfit Fulham since bursting onto the scene last season, there is little surprise interest has stepped up from several Premier League sides.

While Rosenior could only suggest rumours that Spurs are indeed the side who have won the race for the youngster’s signature, it is thought that any move involving the predominant defender would see an eclipse of the teenage British transfer record – which currently stands at the £36 million paid by Manchester United for the capture of attacker Antony Matrial in 2015.

Despite that fee seeming slightly eye-watering, particularly for an unproven left-back at the top level of the English game, the Roehampton-born starlet has continued to shine in the second-tier – netting 12 goals in 35 appearances so far this campaign, as well as providing four assists – proving pivotal in his side’s quest for a play-off spot.
