Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank is facing a selection dilemma as his side prepare for a tricky EFL Cup third-round clash against League One outfit Doncaster Rovers.
Spurs will be keen to get back to winning ways after fighting back from 2-0 down to earn a point in last weekend’s 2-2 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
Frank’s side went into that game with back-to-back wins against lowly rivals West Ham United in the Premier League and Villarreal in the Champions League.
After the disappointing result, Frank will demand a response from his side against Doncaster.
How Tottenham could line up
Tottenham head into this evening’s cup tie looking to extend their unbeaten run to four games across all competitions.
With Wolverhampton Wanderers set to visit North London in Saturday’s Premier League clash, Frank is expected to name a heavily rotated starting line-up.
However, he needs to make sure there’s enough quality in the team to avoid making the headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Frank has already confirmed that goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky will make his first competitive start, but he has a few injuries to worry about.
Randal Kolo Muani and Ben Davies have been ruled out, while Dominic Solanke and Kota Takai could start the game on the bench.
Radu Dragusin has made significant headway in his recovery from an ACL injury, but the game against Doncaster may come too soon for him.
With limited options at centre-back, Frank could opt for a makeshift pairing of Kevin Danso and Archie Gray flanked by Djed Spence and Destiny Udogie, who is back in contention after a lengthy lay-off.
Rodrigo Bentancur could retain his place in midfield, lining up alongside Pape Matar Sarr and Xavi Simons. Sarr was an unused substitute against Brighton while Simons got a 30-minute cameo.
Up top, Mathys Tel is expected to lead the line, flanked by Wilson Odobert and Brennan Johnson.
Predicted XI;
(4-3-3): Kinsky; Spence, Gray, Danso, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur, Simons; Johnson, Tel, Odobert.
