Spurs to battle two European giants to keep star defender

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing to fend off European giants Bayern Munich and Barcelona who have both shown interest in signing Spurs right-back Kyle Walker this summer, according to TRANSFERmarketWEB.

The 26-year-old has been an ever-present feature in Mauricio Pochettino’s side this campaign – making 44 appearances in all competitions, and the Argentine will be keen to keep hold of his star-man ahead of the North Londoners first season away from White Hart Lane.

The England international’s ability to both defend effectively and provide an attacking outlet is something that is not readily available and has made the Sheffield United academy graduate something of a hot-property.

Walker’s possession retention is another trait that would be suit the styles of both Barcelona and Bayern Munich – with the right-back bosting a successful pass accuracy of 79% over 31 league games this campaign.

Even though the attacking-minded defender is yet to register a goal this term, the 26-year-old has also provided five assists for the second-placed Premier League outfit and created a total of 36 chances.

The Tottenham defender is currently under contract with the Champions League contenders until 2021, and Pochettino will be demanding a large fee in order to let his key man go.
