Two Tottenham stars set for starts against Bournemouth, four doubtful

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is expected to make his first start in over four weeks against Bournemouth on Saturday after recovering from an ankle ligament injury picked up during Spurs’ 6-0 FA Cup demolition of Millwall last month.

The 23-year-old, who was nominated for both the PFA Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year award this week, featured in the final 30 minutes during the North London side’s 4-0 win over Watford last weekend, and if it were not for the crossbar would have made an instant impact.

The second-placed Premier League side have coped without their prolific frontman by successfully hauling all 12 points on offer, but the White Hart Lane faithful will be glad to see their talisman back – who has notched 19 goals in 23 league appearances this season as well as provided four assists.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino will also have midfield general Victor Wanyama available for selection again, after the 25-year-old missed Spurs’ previous two victories over Swansea City and the Hornets with a back problem.

Goalkeeper Michel Vorm is a doubt ahead of the Bournemouth’s visit however as the Holland international struggles with a knee injury alongside Danny Rose, whilst Erik Lamela and Harry Winks will also miss out due to a hip and ankle injury respectively.

A win for the North London side is key this weekend as it will all-but secure a Champions League spot – opening the gap over fifth-placed Manchester United to 14 points, and apply pressure to league leaders Chelsea – who face the Red Devils on Sunday.
