AC Milan submit revised bid for Emerson, deal could be closed in the coming days

Tottenham Hotspur are still locked in negotiations with AC Milan regarding the sale of Brazilian defender Emerson Royal.

According to MilanLive, Milan have submitted a revised proposal to Spurs, and they’re eager to close the deal in the coming days.

Emerson has been a top priority for Milan all summer, but there has been a valuation gap between Tottenham and the Serie A giants.

The north Londoners want to recoup a large chunk of their initial investment in the defender and have asked Milan to stump up £21 million to get a deal over the line.

Milan are reluctant to match their lofty demands and are only prepared to offer £12.9m plus performance-related bonuses.

However, they’re eager to wrap up a deal quickly amid reports claiming Emerson is also subject to interest from clubs in the Saudi Pro League.

Milan are the only club showing concrete interst in taking Emerson away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer so Spurs are inclined to lower their demands.

However, the seven-time Champions League winners are ready to throw in a 10% sell-on clause to sweeten the deal for Spurs.

New Milan manager Paulo Fonseca is reportedly a huge fan of Emerson and has been pushing for the club to lure the Brazilian to San Siro Stadium.

Tottenham are already looking for alternatives

Tottenham are already scouring the market for potential alternatives to replace Emerson, which is a clear indication that he could be on his way out of the club in the coming days.

The 25-year-old has agreed a five-year deal worth around £2.5m per year and is only waiting for the green light to travel to Italy to undergo medical tests and sign the contract.

Emerson has also stated his desire to join the Serie A powerhouse in search of regular playing time after falling down the pecking order at Tottenham.

His exit will pave the way for Spurs to strengthen Ange Postecoglou’s squad, with the club already linked to Fiorentina’s Michael Kayode and AS Monaco’s Vanderson.
