Tottenham Hotspur are keeping a close eye on Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson ahead of a potential summer move, the player’s agent has stated.
Reports in France have linked Spurs with a move for the 23-year-old, who played a role in helping the State Velodrome outfit to the Europa League final last season.
Tottenham are expected to be bullish in the transfer market this summer and Michael Manuello is taking up his client as a possible arrival at the North London side.
“Chelsea will not go any further, they are looking at other things,” The Daily Mail quote the agent as saying.
“Tottenham are looking at Morgan – very much so. Arsenal are looking at him also, but I don’t know what Unai Emery will want.”
Sanson looks like a talent and could well develop into a top-level player in the future.
However, with Tottenham needing to challenge for major silverware and Mauricio Pochettino wanting to improve his squad, the Marseille man is just not going to cut it.
Spurs need established players to challenge our starting line-up and Sanson would surely be nothing more than a squad player.
Plus, have Tottenham not learned their lesson yet? Signing players from Ligue 1 hasn’t worked.
Clinton N’jie, Benjamin Stambouli and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou have failed to make an impact. The jury is still out on Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier.
Tottenham could use an energetic and technically able central midfielder this summer – but someone more proven than Sanson should be on the wishlist.
