Arsenal threaten to hijack Tottenham-Eze deal

Tottenham Hotspur want to strengthen the forward line by signing an attacker this summer. Spurs have looked at Antoine Semenyo and Bryan Mbeumo.

However, Semenyo is proving too expensive for the North Londoners, while Mbeumo reportedly has his heart set on a move to Manchester United.

Tottenham have now turned their attention to Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, who has a £68 million release clause and two years left in his deal.

Unfortunately, signing Eze might not be as easy as Spurs hoped. Premier League rivals are sniffing around him.

According to talkSPORT, Arsenal have now entered the race to sign Eze. He is on their list of targets as an alternative to Real Madrid ace Rodrygo.

Eze racked up 14 goals and 11 assists this term, helping Palace to finish comfortably in 12th place in the Premier League after a slow start.

Eze was pivotal as Palace beat Manchester City to win the FA Cup, scoring the only goal in the final. The England international has also become a mainstay in the Three Lions squad.

Eze would be a fantastic addition to the Spurs set-up under Thomas Frank, especially if the legendary Son Heung-Min leaves this summer.

However, Arsenal’s interest in his services could scupper plans to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The onus is on the Spurs hierarchy to push and get a deal over the line.

Spurs cannot afford to miss out on signing Eze to Arsenal, in our opinion. The North London derby is not only settled on the pitch. It is fought in the transfer market, too.

Letting a player like Eze slip through their fingers and head to the Emirates would be a bitter pill for Tottenham fans to swallow.

His creativity, flair, and goal threat make him the kind of match-winner Spurs desperately need to elevate their attack.

If Tottenham are serious about competing at the top again, they must act decisively and meet that £68 million release clause.

They will likely offer an increase on his current £100k a week salary to entice him.

Beating Arsenal to sign Eze would not just strengthen the squad. It would send a powerful message. For the Spurs hierarchy, this is a battle they must win.
