Atletico Madrid contact €60m-rated Pedro Porro as La Liga giants seek summer move

Atletico Madrid have opened talks with the representatives of Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro as they plot a summer move to bring the Spanish international back to La Liga.

The Spanish giants are determined to revamp their defensive options after another trophyless campaign. Los Colchoneros have reportedly held preliminary discussions with CAA Base, the agency representing Porro.

Diego Simeone admires Porro’s relentless work rate, physical intensity, and elite crossing ability as Atletico hope to capitalise on the current situation in North London, where Tottenham are restructuring their squad under Roberto De Zerbi following a turbulent league season.

However, securing the dynamic full-back from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium will require overcoming a significant financial hurdle.

Spurs are seeking €60 million for the Spaniard, who is under contract until June 2028. The club are under no immediate financial pressure to sell one of their most consistent performers.

The ‘fantastic’ Porro made 47 appearances in all competitions last season, recording seven direct goal contributions. Notably, two of those came against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano in the Champions League last 16, giving Simeone a close look at his abilities.

Manchester City are also expected to join the race for his signature, as they look to reinforce their options at full-back this summer. City are also believed to have contacted his representatives, and Spurs will hope for a bidding war to maximise any potential sale.

Porro is currently on international duty, having been selected by Luis de la Fuente for Spain’s upcoming World Cup campaign in North America.
