Tottenham Hotspur have opened talks to re-sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid and are closing in on a deal for highly-rated left-back Sergio Reguilon, according to BBC Sport.
Spurs fans will be excited by the potential of the devastating attacker moving back to North London, with the Welshman’s agent also confirming the player is interested in a return.
“Gareth still loves Spurs, – it’s where he wants to be,” Jonathan Barnett told BBC Sport.
The report suggests both a permanent and loan deal are being discussed.
The obvious sticking point that will surely make a Tottenham deal difficult is the star’s astronomical wages of £600,000 per week.
Spurs would not be able to afford this and as such there will need to be a compromise from the player, Madrid or both.
Tottenham’s need for reinforcements at left-back was plain to see in the 1-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday, with Ben Davies putting in a poor performance in the loss.
Reguilon impressed during his loan stint at Sevilla last season, helping the club finish fourth in La Liga and win the Europa League.
