Ben Davies has put pen-to-paper on a new deal with Tottenham Hotspur until the end of the 2020-21 season.
The 23-year-old defender joined Spurs from Swansea in July 2014, but has been a bit-part player in Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The Welshman has made 43 Premier League appearances since being at White Hart Lane, however has found breaking into the first-team a difficult task, with the impressive performances from Danny Rose not helping his cause.
However, Davies has recently had an opportunity to stake his claim whilst his team-mate is currently on the sidelines with a knee injury and has proved capable.
“It’s a fantastic club to be part of at the moment and you can only see it getting better,” Davies said about signing his new deal, as per BBC Sport.
“If you’d have said this before the start of my career I would probably have been in shock.”
Davies isn’t the only player to have received a new contract in recent months, with Hugo Lloris, Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker, Jan Vertonghen, Eric Dier and Christian Eriksen all committing their long-term futures to the club.
Spurs face Millwall in the quarter-final of the FA Cup on Sunday, with Davies expected to start as Rose is continuing to nurse his injury.
