Besiktas considering move for Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon

Turkish giants Besiktas are pondering whether or not to make a move for Tottenham Hotspur defender Sergio Reguilon, according to Turkish news outlet Takvim.

Tottenham’s transfer business this summer has primarily centred around departures, with Ange Postecoglou keen to streamline his bloated squad.

More than ten players have left the club, including Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Emerson Royal and Oliver Skipp, but there could be more before the transfer window closes.

Reguilon could be the next fringe player heading for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium exit amid interest from Turkish giants.

The former Real Madrid star is not in Postecoglou’s long-term plans and is desperate to leave the club.

His agent has been working around the clock to drum up interest, and so far, Besiktas has emerged as a possible destination.

Reguilon is valued at around £10 million on Transfermarkt, but Besiktas could secure his signature for a lesser fee, with Tottenham keen to get the player off their wage bill.

Besiktas haven’t pursued their interest yet, but a deal could be on the cards in the final few days of the transfer market.

Tottenham need to offload Reguilon permanently

Reguilon’s stock has fallen off a cliff since joining Spurs from Madrid in a deal worth £32m four years ago.

After struggling in the first two years of his Spurs career, the 27-year-old has embarked on three loan spells away from the club.

His most recent adventure saw him join Brentford for the second half of last season. He made 16 appearances across all competitions and contributed four assists.

However, the Bees opted against signing him permanently, and once again, Reguilon is on the market for a new club.

Spurs need to offload the Spaniard permanently before the transfer window closes, mainly due to his contract situation.

With only one year remaining on his contract, a simple loan isn’t a viable option, although they’ll have to consider a cut-price deal to facilitate his departure.
