Tottenham Hotspur face two crucial Premier League games to consolidate a top-four finish, with home clashes against Newcastle United and Leicester City left to play for the club this season.
Spurs have been limping towards the finish line of late but the players need to raise their game for the remainder of the campaign to ensure Champions League football in 2018-19.
One of the key reasons that Tottenham have not been at their best has been Harry Kane’s struggles, with the superstar striker not looking match fit.
The England international was flying earlier in the season but an ankle injury kept the Spurs fans’ favourite on the sidelines for three weeks.
By all accounts, Kane was expected to miss more Tottenham games than he did and it is clear to see that the hierarchy rushed the centre forward back to action.
Since returning he has scored a couple of goals but plenty of games have gone by with the Spurs striker having little-to-no impact.
It is clear to see that Kane is not fully mobile and is struggling on in a desperate attempt to fire Tottenham into the Champions League.
However, against Newcastle tonight, Mauricio Pochettino should consider starting Son Heung-min in attack and relegating Kane to the bench.
Despite the Tottenham striker being one of the best centre forwards in world football, the team are carrying him currently due to the Englishman not being fully fit.
Son has shown that he can do the job in Kane’s absence previously and if Spurs were to get a goal or two up against Newcastle, there is the possibility that the main man would not even be needed from the bench.
Not playing Kane against Newcastle would be a bold decision by Pochettino but it could be one to improve a Tottenham team desperate for three points.
