Christian Eriksen and taking corners – the great mystery

When Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen stands over a direct free-kick, there is always real anticipation.

Given the Denmark international’s sheer quality and precision, long-range strikes from dead-ball situations have characterised the playmaker’s time at White Hart Lane.

However, when Eriksen stands over a corner, something changes.

The 25-year-old put in an inspired performance in the 3-0 FA Cup win over Fulham on Sunday – but again his delivery of corners left a lot to be desired.

I hate short corners. And Spurs have resorted to playing a lot of them, perhaps due to the lack of quality delivery into the box.

But, something needs to change.

Eriksen is an excellent player and an important man in Mauricio Pochettino’s ongoing project at Tottenham.

However, surely the management team at Spurs can see that his delivery at corners has been poor for some time now – can we get him to practice a few at training or give someone else a chance to take them please?
