Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele has admitted that the 0-0 draw with Sunderland on Tuesday was very frustrating, but he has put it down as ‘one of those nights.’
Spurs had 70 per cent of the possession at the Stadium of Light and bombarded Vito Mannone’s goal, but the all-illusive goal to break the deadlock could not be found.
Tottenham’s Premier League title rivals Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal all failed to win on Tuesday night and as such Mauricio Pochettino’s men missed a chance to bolster their hopes of a title push.
Dembele looked assured on the ball as always and put a shift in out of possession, but the Belgian maestro was unable to unlock the Black Cats defence in a frustrating 90 minutes.
The former Fulham midfielder has urged his team to move on and forget about Sunderland of the time being.
“It was one of those nights,” Dembele told the club’s official website.
“We started okay in the first half and in the second half we had some small chances, nothing big.
“Results were good for us so that makes it worse really. It’s an opportunity missed, that’s what we all think. It was a frustrating night and there’s not too much more to say about it.”
Dembele was replaced late in the piece by Vincent Janssen, to continue his trend of not completing 90 minutes for the North London outfit.
Spurs will look to bounce back against Middlesbrough at home at the weekend.
