Djibril Sidibe linked with Spurs – ideal Walker replacement

Another day, another Tottenham Hotspur transfer rumour – this time The Daily Star state that Mauricio Pochettino’s men are keeping a close eye on Monaco’s Djibril Sidibe.

While Spurs are linked with a lot of potential new recruits, talk of right-back acquisitions has been gathering pace given the uncertainty over Kyle Walker’s future.

The England international is believed to want to leave North London this summer and has been touted as a possible recruit for Manchester City.

Replacing Walker would be no mean feat for Tottenham, with the former Sheffield United full-back growing in stature and importance in the Spurs side over the last 24 months.

The Englishman’s pace and drive going forward have been a critical element of Spurs’ attacking play under Pochettino, with Danny Rose providing the same thrust on the opposite flank.

While Kieran Trippier has shown that he is more than capable of becoming Tottenham’s first-choice right-back, a new man will be needed to bolster the squad if Walker leaves.

At first sight, Sidibe looks like an ideal acquisition.

The former Lille full-back has starred for Monaco this season in their massively successful campaign and caught the eye with his willingness to get forward.

A member of the current France national side, Sidibe looks set to have a bright future in the game and at 24 has his best years ahead of him.

With the defender looking like he possesses the attributes that Pochettino requires in transfer targets, landing the Monaco star this summer would certainly blunt the blow of losing Walker.
