Exclusive: Tottenham star Eriksen’s preferred destination named, Spurs contract offer revealed

Tottenham Hotspur have offered Christian Eriksen a new contract with the same pay levels as Dele Alli received recently, but the Danish star’s first choice is to move to Barcelona, an insider at the club has told White Heart Lane.

The mercurial Scandinavian midfielder’s current contract runs out in June 2020 and Spurs have been trying to convince the former Ajax man to pen a long-term extension.

With time starting to work against Tottenham, the ball is in Eriksen’s court and he now has to decide whether he should stay or go.

The mainstream media in both the UK and Spain have all been running with the story that the Spurs man is being chased by Real Madrid.

A Tottenham insider has told White Heart Lane that Eriksen is undecided over his future at the club and in fact his preferred destination should he leave this summer is Barcelona.

The player is in no hurry to make a decision at this stage, waiting to see if the Catalan giants are going to make an approach for him in the summer.

The insider has stated that Eriksen has been offered a similar deal to Alli.

Eriksen, who has 85 caps for Denmark, joined Tottenham from Ajax in 2013.

He is an integral part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with his range of passing and creativity allowing Spurs to play with a more fluid attacking style.

Eriksen is regularly amongst the top assist makers and has the knack of scoring crucial goals – there is no doubt that he would be incredibly difficult to replace for Tottenham.

This season he has six goals and nine assists to date, with his contract situation seemingly set to rumble on until the summer at least as the enigmatic Dane mulls over his options and decides on his next move.
