Ryan Mason believes that Harry Kane will stay at Tottenham Hotspur to break Premier League records.
The former Spurs man feels that the striker, who has netted a remarkable 35 goals in 39 appearances this term, is fully committed to the club and will not move on in the foreseeable future.
“What I believe is that Harry wants to go down in the record books as a record-breaker and going out to LaLiga that’s not going to happen,” Mason told talkSPORT.
“Staying in the Premier League with Tottenham, that will happen.
“He’ll break Shearer’s record, he’ll break Rooney’s record for England – I’m so confident.”
Mason is a couple of years older than Kane but the two broke into the Tottenham setup at a similar time, although their paths diverged in the 2015-16 campaign, when the midfielder was gradually eased out of the first-team picture.
After being sold to Hull City in 2016, the 26-year-old suffered a head injury in a match with Chelsea and in February of this year confirmed his retirement from professional football.
Mason clearly knows Kane well and Tottenham fans will hope that he is proven right and the talismanic forward stays in North London for many seasons to come.
With such an incredible goals tally over the past few terms, the England star is integral to the way Mauricio Pochettino’s team play and the boss will hope that he is not without the hitman for long after he suffered an ankle injury against Bournemouth at the weekend.
Son Heung-min ably deputised with two goals in a 4-1 win but Kane is almost certain to be absent for the FA Cup quarter-final against Swansea City this weekend and will likely miss his country’s forthcoming friendly internationals.
Supporters will hope that Tottenham are still competing on more than one front by the time the academy graduate returns to action.
