“Frustrated” – Postecoglou bemoans one aspect of ‘unbelievable’ Tottenham win over Man United

Tottenham Hotspur claimed an incredible 3-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford this afternoon. Considering the injury to skipper Son Heung-min, the odds were not in Spurs’ favour. However, the team produced an outstanding performance to down the Red Devils.

Tottenham sprung out of the blocks, looking to pounce on a very vulnerable Man United side and took the early lead. Micky Van de Ven intercepted a Marcus Rashford run and stormed into the Man United box before squaring for Brennan Johnson to score his fourth goal in as many games.

Bruno Fernandes was sent off just before the half-time break, and Spurs doubled the lead immediately after the restart through Dejan Kulusevski. Dominic Solanke put the gloss on the proceedings with his third goal in three games.

Unfortunately, it was not all exciting for manager Ange Postecoglou, who saw his side miss several big chances to increase the scoreline. He was not thrilled with the finishing on display.

Timo Werner missed two chances in one-on-one situations, and Solanke could have pounced better on one of the spilt shots. Johnson crashed a shot off the foot of the post, and Noussair Mazroui cleared an effort off the line.

Speaking to BBC Match of the Day, the Australian said“I don’t know about frustrated but I am only human. More for the players themselves. We played some unbelievable football, and you want them to get the rewards.”

“I thought it was an outstanding performance. We started the game well, scored a great goal, and probably should have had two or three. The pressure then overwhelms them, and they get the red card. After that, I thought we controlled the game well. Just an outstanding effort from all the lads.”

Spurs have now won four games on the trot for the first time under Postecoglou. The players responded well to the loss to Arsenal, securing wins over Coventry City, Brentford, Qarabag FK, and now the Red Devils.

The boys will look to carry this fantastic form into coming fixtures against Ferencvaros (Europa League) and Brighton & Hove Albion (Premier League).
