Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli have heaped praise upon each other and told of how each are important to the club’s title campaign.
The England international pair have contributed to a stunning 18 goals this calendar year in the Premier League, with Spurs having scored 20 in total so far.
The remaining two have been courtesy of an own goal by Gareth McAuley of West Bromwich Albion and a strike from South Korean Son Heung-min against Manchester City.
Although the efforts are extremely impressive by the duo, you won’t find the individuals getting carried away with their own form, but rather praising the importance of the other.
“It’s not just his goalscoring – Harry holds up play and he gets involved in all the link-ups. He’s an unbelievable striker and it’s a pleasure to play alongside him,” Alli told the club’s official website.
“He had a few chances to get another hat-trick on Sunday and I’m sure he’ll be kicking himself that he didn’t get three, but I think that shows what sort of player he is – he gets two goals but he’s not happy with it, he wants more, so it’s definitely important to have players like that in your team.
“As long as he carries on scoring, he’s a great part of the team but it’s not just that – he’s a leader from the top as well. As I said, it’s a pleasure to keep playing in the team with him.”
Kane, who has scored two hat-tricks so far, both coming at White Hart Lane, could only complement his compatriot and highlighted the importance of Alli’s goals in matches.
“He’s doing well and it was an important goal in the end against Everton because it proved to be the match-winner,” he said.
“It was a great little finish, a great ball by Winksy to set him up, and it was an important goal – something that he’s used to popping up with.
“As a midfielder you’ve got to keep chipping away with goals and assists and Dele got an assist and a goal against Everton, which was vital.
“Hopefully he can stay on top form because he’s a fantastic player.”
Tottenham fans will be hoping the pair can continue to have a significant impact on the team’s title chase, where they still have a 10-point deficit they need to overturn from leaders Chelsea.
Spurs will play Millwall in the FA Cup on Sunday, whilst their next Premier League game is also at White Hart Lane against Southampton in a fortnight.
