Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has been linked with a move back to England, and naturally, Spurs was mooted as a potential landing spot.
The topic even came up with Tottenham coach Thomas Frank, who said the club would welcome the Bayern Munich ace, who scored 280 goals during his time in North London, back.
Kane has carried his stellar form from Spurs to Bayern, where he has netted 100 goals in 104 outings, becoming the first person in the 21st century to record such numbers for a new club.
The England international scored a brace versus Werder Bremen yesterday to bring his tally up to 100.
However, after the game, Kane poured cold water on the rumours linking him back to England/Spurs.
The Tottenham legend said (via Fabrizio Romano), “No, I’m not thinking about a Premier League return at the moment. I’m really happy here.
“I have two years left on my contract. I’m enjoying every moment. Bayern is the best place to win trophies, absolutely.”
Kane reportedly has a €65 million release clause, and there were rumours that some teams might be willing to pay it to bring him back to England, but those reports appear to be wide of the mark.
For now, Spurs will have to make do with striker Dominic Solanke, who has been underwhelming since joining, primarily due to injuries.
Thankfully, Richarlison has looked much improved this season, replacing Solanke. Fans will be hoping he can continue delivering the goods, as Kane won’t be leaving Munich anytime soon.
A move for Kane when his contract with Bayern is up may make more sense. His adaptability means he could still be playing at the highest level in two years.
The 32-year-old can spend the final years of his career in North London, closing the distance between himself and Alan Shearer on the Premier League scoring chart.
