Harry Kane vows to prove doubters wrong

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has stated that he is not concerned about the fact that he is yet to score in 2016-17 and believes the goals will start flowing for him soon.

The homegrown Spurs hero has a poor record in the early days of Premier League campaigns and has never netted in the month of August since becoming a professional footballer.

Kane drew blanks against Everton, Crystal Palace and Liverpool but will look to get off the mark for the campaign as Mauricio Pochettino’s men face Stoke City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday.

The England international has stated that he is confident in his abilities and that he is ready to start hitting the back of the net for club and country.

“There was a lot of talk last year about me not scoring and I ended up proving a lot of people wrong,” Kane told The Guardian.

“People will talk this year as well. It’s what they’re doing now. But I am confident in my ability. I know that, if I continue doing what I’m doing, the goals will come.”

With the summer arrival of Vincent Janssen, Kane has been asked to play in the deeper number ten role on occasion to facilitate the Netherlands international’s introduction to the starting XI.

The Spurs youth product finished last season as the Premier League’s top goalscorer with 25 strikes.
