Igor Tudor leaves Tottenham by mutual consent

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that interim manager Igor Tudor has left the club by mutual consent.

The 47-year-old manager lost his father last week and learned the news at the end of Sunday’s crushing 3-0 defeat in a relegation six-pointer against Nottingham Forest.

Tottenham were already considering Tudor’s future before the unfortunate incident, and it’s believed that the defeat to Forest was the final nail in his coffin.

The situation complicated Tottenham’s plans, but the club have now decided to act, with Tudor now moving on after a conversation with the hierarchy.

Tudor’s exit means Tottenham are now looking for their third manager of the season after bringing in Tudor to replace Thomas Frank.

“We can confirm that it has been mutually agreed for head coach Igor Tudor to leave the club with immediate effect,” Tottenham said in a club statement.

“Tomislav Rogic and Riccardo Ragnacci have also left their respective roles of goalkeeping coach and physical coach.

“We thank Igor, Tomislav and Riccardo for their efforts during the past six weeks, in which they worked tirelessly.

“We also acknowledge the bereavement that Igor has recently suffered and send our support to him and his family at this difficult time.”

Who could replace Tudor?

Tottenham plan to appoint another interim head coach in the next few days, giving the new manager just over a week to prepare for the trip to Sunderland on April 12.

Unfortunately for Tottenham, options are thin on the ground, and the names making the rounds at the moment have failed to inspire confidence or excitement.

Bringing in Sean Dyche may be the club’s best option. If anyone can steer Tottenham away from relegation battles, it’s the former Forest and Everton boss.

Dyche has the CV to back up that claim, having helped the Toffees avoid two relegation scraps.

The club have their hearts set on appointing Roberto De Zerbi, who recently left Olympique Marseille, but the Italian isn’t jumping at the chance, with the club battling relegation.

He’d rather wait until summer to see where Tottenham end up before making a decision.

With several reports claiming any move for Dyche will be complicated, Tottenham are also considering Ryan Mason, Tim Sherwood, Roy Hodgson, and Robbie Keane as interim options.

Centre-back Ben Davies is another being touted as a shock option. The 32-year-old is poised to leave Tottenham at the end of the season after over a decade, and is currently battling a season-ending injury.

Somehow, the club believe he may be in a position to help get them out of this jam.
