Could Janssen’s arrival prevent Harry from scoring?

Signing a new striker this summer was an obvious priority for Tottenham and the North London club look to have landed a good one in the form of Vincent Janssen.

The Netherlands international has looked industrious and able in the early days of his Spurs career, despite not hitting the net for his new club.

Although Janssen will be afforded time before being expected to score consistently, the same patience is rarely afforded to Harry Kane.

The homegrown hero has set the benchmark extraordinarily high after a whirlwind 24 months and the fact that he has not scored in his first three Premier League games has already made the press.

Last season’s top goalscorer has become accustomed to being the main man in attack and almost Spurs’ only option, but the arrival of Janssen could well see a change in tact.

If Mauricio Pochettino is to play the pair together, it has become obvious that Kane will have to drop into the number ten role and assume more of a provider responsibility – rather than just being asked to score the goals.

Moving a man who scored 25 Premier League goals into a deeper role this season doesn’t seem like the wisest idea, despite Janssen’s potential.

As such, Pochettino has a job on his hands to manage his options and get the best out of key men such as Kane.
