As the transfer rumours rumble on, the latest name to be linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur is not a new one – former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez.
Spurs are seemingly in the market for a number nine this summer to compliment Harry Kane, with Vincent Janssen not making the desired impact in his first campaign in North London.

Hernandez showed when given a chance at United that he could score with regularity in the Premier League, while the Mexico international has been in exemplary form for Bayer Leverkusen since moving to Germany.
The forward faced Tottenham in the Champions League last season and has netted 39 times in two seasons since moving to the BayArena.
Hernandez’s work ethic and predatory nature would certainly fit in with Mauricio Pochettino’s squad but the chances of the 29-year-old joining Spurs this summer seem so very slim.
The Mexican spent considerable time on the United bench during his tenure in English football, leaving Old Trafford to play week-in, week-out at Leverkusen.
At Tottenham, Hernandez would be a habitual understudy and Kane’s presence would surely end any interest he had in joining Spurs.
From the club’s perspective, the Leverkusen man’s age is a detriment given Daniel Levy’s preference that recruits have sell-on potential.
Having seen a number of out-and-out number nines fail to make it at Tottenham, including Janssen and Roberto Soldado, Pocehttino may well be more tempted to sign a versatile player that can play as the furthest man forward but also in a more-withdrawn role.
Son Heung-min has this capability, while another reported target, Josh King of Bournemouth, would seem like a more considered option.
Hernandez is not coming to Tottenham – end of story – on to the next one.
