LAFC advancing with deal to sign Tottenham legend Son Heung-min

Major League Soccer (MLS) side Los Angeles FC are advancing in talks to sign Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min (Ben Jacobs).

“The South Korean international has one year left on his Tottenham contract, but Spurs are willing to sanction an exit this summer.”

Son has been a loyal Spurs servant over the past 10 seasons, notching 173 goals and 101 assists in 454 appearances.

Legendary Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp hailed him as ‘one of the best strikers in the world’.

The 33-year-old stayed through thick and thin, eventually helping Spurs to overcome the infamous trophy hurdle and clinch the Europa League title.

However, Son suffered a palpable decline last term, delivering a measly 11 goals and 12 assists in 46 appearances.

The topic of Son’s leaving has been on the table since the end of last season, and it looks like the inevitable is drawing closer. Thankfully, he leaves with a trophy after his excellent service.

Tottenham must now turn their attentions to replacing the former Bayer Leverkusen star.

The north Londoners should abandon this senseless pursuit of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes.

Tottenham should try to muscle in on an obtainable target like Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho (View).

The 21-year-old is rough around the edges, but Man United have already done Spurs the favour of giving him top-flight experience, allowing him to get some bad games out of his system.

For all his poor decision-making in the final third, Garnacho bagged 11 goals and 10 assists last term.

Only Amad Diallo registered a higher goal-per-90 rate than Garnacho at Man Utd. He took the most shots per game and recorded the most shots on target per 90 (Opta).

The Argentine international can explode into a lethal force in a more stable environment like Tottenham.

Underperformers at Man United have done excellently after leaving that toxic environment. See Antony, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, Romelu Lukaku, and Scott McTominay.

Garnacho would be a wise pick-up for Tottenham, especially if the club can land him for a decent price.
