Lamela could be as good as a new signing for Tottenham in 2017-18

Tottenham Hotspur’s attacking prowess in 2016-17 was hailed as arguably the Premier League’s best, with Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Son Heung-min all starring as the North London club finished second in the standings.

However, one man that has almost been forgotten by everyone outside of Spurs supporter circles is Erik Lamela.

A hip injury kept the Argentina international out of action for the second half of the campaign, in what was surely a massively frustrating six months for the former Roma man.

Lamela’s time in the Premier League has been mixed, with a dire start being overcome and the gifted winger increasing his importance to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

At the start of last season, the former River Plate man looked to have fully adapted to English football and appeared motivated in playing a key role in the club’s silverware hopes.

While the afore-mentioned quartet will continue to be Tottenham’s attacking leaders when the new campaign arrives, the potential availability of Lamela again could be as good as a new signing for Spurs.

The Argentine’s creativity, work-rate off the ball and technique have won over the club’s supporters and having the South American fit and ready to prove himself in 2017-18 can only be a really positive thing for the club.
