Ledley King states if Tottenham have had a good season

Tottenham Hotspur legend Ledley King has stated that the club will have had a good season if they can wrap up third place in the Premier League.

After putting forward a Premier League title challenge over the last two campaigns, hopes were high that Spurs could win silverware in 2017-18 under Mauricio Pochettino.

However, Tottenham were beaten in the FA Cup semi-final by Manchester United, which means another season has gone by without a trophy.

Ahead of the crucial Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Wednesday night, King has suggested that the fans would have taken this outcome at the start of the campaign.

“I don’t think there is a Spurs fan out there who wouldn’t have taken a place in the top four this season, beating Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid in the Champions League, plus Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United at Wembley – essentially playing away from home,” he told the club’s official website.

“It’s been a demanding season in terms of the amount of games we’ve played and getting far in competitions and now we want to finish it off.”

King was part of the Tottenham side that first qualified for the Champions League in its current form and goes down as a club-legend given his time at the club.

For this Spurs side, success is determined by the assessor’s perspective.

While everyone connected with Tottenham wanted silverware this season, qualifying for the Champions League again, after the side’s explots in the competition this term, would be a positive campaign in my eyes.

However, to achieve it, a tired-looking Tottenham team must be at their best and record victories over Newcastle and Leicester at home – there are no excuses.
