Lewis family to make public show of strength during Tottenham v West Ham

Tottenham Hotspur will begin life after Daniel Levy with a show of authority from the Lewis family, according to The Telegraph.

The Spurs owners are set to attend Saturday’s London derby against West Ham United after rejecting two parties interested in buying the club.

Their presence at the London Stadium will be the first significant sign of the power shift since Levy stepped down as chairman last week.

The family, heirs of former owner Joe Lewis, have grown increasingly visible in club affairs.

Vivienne Lewis, often spotted at matches and pre-season tours, has taken on a prominent role, while her brother Charles and brother-in-law Nick are also expected to be more involved.

The trio will symbolise a new era of leadership, with the family now entirely in charge.

Vinai Venkatesham, the recently appointed chief executive, has been trusted to handle day-to-day operations and deliver on the family’s ambitions.

“The Lewis family are very passionate about Tottenham and want both our men’s and women’s teams to have the best chance of success,” Venkatesham said earlier today.

He also confirmed firm financial backing of more than £100 million.

However, Venkatesham also emphasised the importance of adhering to financial regulations and maintaining a strategy that prioritises bright recruitment, academy growth, and player sales.

Saturday’s televised clash will mark an obvious moment of transition, with Levy absent from the stands for the first time in almost a quarter of a century.

Yet while the symbolism is strong, Spurs supporters remain unconvinced (View).

For many fans, this display of power means little without meaningful action in the transfer market.

Tottenham’s faithful want to see investment in the squad, improved squad depth, and genuine progress sustained beyond one-off triumphs, such as last season’s Europa League win.

After years of frustration under Levy, ambition must now be proven on the pitch, not just in the directors’ box.
