Mauricio Pochettino gives huge boost on injured star

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has stated that Harry Kane’s road to recovery will not be as long as it was earlier this season, and the Argentine is expecting his star striker back before the end of this campaign.

The England international picked up a ligament injury during Spurs’ 6-0 rout over Millwall in the FA Cup earlier this month.

This was a reoccurrence of a similar ankle issue the 23-year-old suffered during the North London side’s 1-0 win over Sunderland in September – resulting in a 12 game absence.

However, Pochettino believes that his prolific goalscorer will not endure another long lay-off this time around, and is pleased that the striker is already participating in light training.

“He is doing well and he has started working again on the pitch” the 45-year-old told Sky Sports.

“We are very positive, he is very positive, but we will see when he is available again.

“He is doing very well, he is very positive. We believe that he can be available not so long in time.

“But I cannot provide the time he still needs to be available again, but I think it is not too long.”

Thanks to the international break Kane has only missed one outing so far, and with upcoming fixtures against Premier League strugglers Burnley and Swansea City, Tottenham may well escape unscathed from missing their key-man.

But Pochettino will be wary that his side only managed to pick up four wins during the Englishman’s previous absence earlier this season.
