Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has listed five fringe players that will start against Leyton Orient on Tuesday night, but new signing Sergio Reguilon will not be one of them.
Spurs have a fixture pile-up, with the win at Southampton now being followed by three games in the space of just seven days.
The Carabao Cup clash against Orient will give Mourinho the opportunity to rotate his Tottenham team, with a string of first-team stars set to be rested.
With that in mind, the Spurs boss has given an update on his thinking in relation to team selection before the game.
“Some positions in the squad give us incredible options,” Tottenham boss Mourinho told Football London.
“If you look to our bench [at Southampton] you can imagine that Aurier is going to play, Joe Hart is going to play, Moussa is going to play, Toby,” he said.
“Lamela is going to play so you can imagine that some of these guys are going to play, replacing players from the same level. Exactly players from the same level so you can imagine some of them are going to play and replace the others.”
The game against Orient will provide a number of fringe Tottenham men the chance to make a statement and push for inclusion in the Premier League moving forward.
Spurs fans will hope the changed side can record victory, move onto the next round of the competition and continue to build momentum after the opening day defeat to Everton.
