Opinion: Forget Bale, latest striker linked to Tottenham is a perfect fit

Tottenham Hotspur have been hogging headlines over the last few days, with the sensational double capture of Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon one step closer to completion.

However, the Guardian has also stated that Spurs have made an inquiry over the availability of Southampton striker Danny Ings – in a move that would make a whole lot of sense.

It is clear that Bale and Reguilon would be excellent additions to the Tottenham squad, but their potential capture does not solve the lack of striking options in Jose Mourinho’s contingent.

Spurs have been linked with plenty of new centre forwards this summer, with some looking like they could do the job and others leaving the fans scratching their heads.

In the case of Ings – and if his form last season is anything to go by – Tottenham have identified someone that would fit in well to the current squad.

The Southampton man has been unlucky with injuries in his career but Spurs would be getting a player that has a proven record of scoring goals in the Premier League.

At the right stage of his career, a move to Tottenham will surely appeal to Ings but convincing the Saints to sell could be a difficult task.

The striker scored 22 goals last season for Southampton and would be excellent competition and support to Harry Kane at Spurs.

Here’s hoping good news comes in three and Ings follows Bale and Reguilon to Tottenham in the near future.
