Tottenham Hotspur’s pre-season training for the 2020-21 season is underway, but club talisman Harry Kane will have to quarantine for 14 days and has been absent, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs manager Jose Mourinho will hope to hit the ground running in the new campaign and has three weeks before the side face Everton on the opening weekend.
Kane is a critical player for Tottenham and has the reputation of starting new seasons slowly, before firing into gear after a few games.
The Spurs striker was recently on a family holiday in the Bahamas and has been forced to isolate after the UK Government changed travel restrictions from the Caribbean country – while the England international was there.
Tottenham need Kane to be fit and firing to start the new season well and the fans will be encouraged by the way the centre forward finished last term.
The 27-year-old netted seven goals in Spurs’ nine Premier League games after the 2019-20 season resumed and looked sharp in the process.
However, with Kane to miss pre-season friendlies and the striker to be forced to train in solitude away from the rest of the squad, it is an early headache for Mourinho.
Landing a proven back-up to Kane must be a priority for Tottenham this summer and the striker’s latest news will only make that search all the more urgent.
