Tottenham Hotspur return to Premier League action on Sunday with an away day against Southampton.

The North London club will be looking to bounce straight back after the disappointment of losing the opening domestic game 1-0 against Everton last weekend, with Spurs in need of a positive result on the south coast.

The midweek trip to Bulgaria to face Lokomotiv Plovdiv will mean Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho has some key selection decisions to make – but there is one Lilywhites man that simply must start.

Giovani Lo Celso’s presence in the Spurs team on Thursday night reiterated just how important the Argentine has become to the team.

Against Everton, Tottenham were devoid of creative ideas and in truth never looked like equalising after the visitors took the lead.

In contrary, and while recognising that Plovdiv are not at the same level as a Premier League side, Spurs had much more zip and purpose on Thursday night as Lo Celso pulled the strings.

Here’s hoping the 24-year-old is fully fit after a hamstring complaint, as he is a key player in Tottenham’s search for success this season.

The Spurs side is going to look very different in a few weeks once Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilon establish themselves in it, with plenty more attacking impetus.

However, Lo Celso is the puppet master to make it all click and will continue to be the focal point that Tottenham’s possession goes through.
