Opinion: Mourinho must sell divisive Tottenham man now – or play him vs Everton

While plenty of transfer rumours around potential arrivals at Tottenham Hotspur continue to swirl around in the press, the main potential Lilywhites exit this summer according to the media is Serge Aurier.

The Ivory Coast international has been a divisive figure among the Spurs supporters during his time in North London, with the right-back capable of both staggering feats of athleticism and incomprehensible mistakes over the course of 90 minutes.

The latest rumbling from Football London suggests Tottenham are in talks with AC Milan over the potential sale of Aurier but a deal is yet to be agreed.

With Spurs taking to pre-season action on Saturday and the opening game of the new 2020-21 Premier League season against Everton a mere three weeks’ away, it is time for action in relation to the defender.

Obviously there is more disorganisation than usual this summer given what has happened over the last six months, but Jose Mourinho will want as settled a Tottenham squad as he can have before the action starts.

As such, if Aurier is going to be sold, he needs to be offloaded soon and a potential replacement acquired.

However, if the potential deal stalls or is delayed, there is every chance the former PSG defender could start for Tottenham against Everton, as he is currently the best option the club have at right-back.
