Opinion: Mourinho’s approach superior to Pochettino, can deliver Spurs success

Tottenham Hotspur continue to battle on four fronts in the 2020-21 season, with a midweek victory over Brentford firing the club into the Carabao Cup final.

Spurs will face Manchester City in the final at Wembley on Sunday, April 25 and the North London club will have the chance to end a 13-year trophy drought.

The verdict may still be out among some Tottenham fans over Jose Mourinho and the merits of his replacement of Mauricio Pochettino, with the side’s playing style under question when it does not collect all three points.

However, Mourinho has a golden opportunity to start to win over the Spurs supporters, with the fans craving silverware for a long time.

Pochettino was not shy in admitting that Tottenham’s priorities under him were to challenge for major competitions, such as the Premier League and the Champions League.

Under the Argentine, Spurs came so close to winning these two crowns but unfortunately the now PSG manager’s tenure in London will be reflected upon as one without silverware.

On the other hand, Mourinho has not dismissed the ‘minor’ cup competitions and fielded a very strong side to face Brentford in order to qualify for the final.

He even called the clash against the Championship outfit his biggest in charge of Tottenham.

Spurs fans want to see the side challenge for major honours and this team is good enough to do so.

However, under Mourinho, Spurs are 90 minutes away from ending the trophy-less spell and the current Tottenham manager knows this will be a big achievement in his journey to success and winning over his doubters.
