Tottenham Hotspur are back in training, with the Premier League season set to resume for the London club on June 19 with a home clash against Manchester United.
While the game against the Red Devils could provide the ideal opportunity to raise spirits at the club, Spurs are potentially facing a real setback before the campaign has even recommenced.
Football London state that midfield lynchpin Gio Lo Celso has not been training with the wider Tottenham group and as such could well have picked up a knock ahead of the Premier League clash against United.
While the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min are key men for Spurs, there is an argument that the Argentine is almost of more importance to Jose Mourinho’s side.
Lo Celso has been so impressive in his early days at Tottenham that he is now one of the first names on the teamsheet and a key element to the side’s midfield.
Mourinho has a real job on his hands to fix the Spurs midfield dynamic, which simply has not been right since Mousa Dembele departed to China.
Lo Celso has looked like part of the solution – a brave player both with and without the ball, tactical adapt and willing to put in the hard work.
Should the South American be absent for the United clash, it robs Tottenham of creativity and leaves Mourinho with a number of uninspiring alternatives.
Here’s hoping that Lo Celso can get back into the mix soon – Spurs need him if Champions League qualification is to be anywhere near achievable.
