Opinion: Tottenham’s most-technical player will be one of PL’s best this season

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a new Premier League season and the fans are waiting for new players – however, one of Spurs’ existing stars is set to light up English football in 2020-21.

Giovani Lo Celso signed for the club last summer and had a slow start to life in North London, before compatriot Mauricio Pochettino was sacked.

However, once fit and firing, the Argentina international took little time to adjust to the rigours of English football and show the Tottenham fans his quality.

Perhaps signed as a replacement for Christian Eriksen, Lo Celso is a different type of player to the former Spurs man but can be just as influential – and more.

Jose Mourinho must figure out a Tottenham formation and system that suits the former Real Betis playmaker, who has the technical attributes to be one of the Premier League’s best players.

With the signing of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to anchor the Spurs midfield, Lo Celso should have more licence to roam in an advanced role in a midfield three.

The Argentine’s range of passing, footballing intelligence, work rate and creativity make him Tottenham’s most technically able player and one that can fire the club to success.

I can’t wait to see Lo Celso again in 2020-21 once he’s got pre-season under his belt and is raring to go.
