Pedro Porro sends message to Kinsky after nightmare display vs Atletico

Tottenham Hotspur defender Pedro Porro has sent a heartfelt message to teammate Antonin Kinsky following his nightmare display in Tuesday’s Champions League defeat.

The North Londoners suffered a 5-2 battering at the hands of Spanish giants Atletico Madrid at Riyadh Air Metropolitano, leaving them on the edge of Champions League elimination.

Unfortunately for Kinsky, he was the primary culprit for Tottenham’s capitulation in the Spanish capital.

Kinsky’s nightmare outing could end his Tottenham career

The 22-year-old was given the nod ahead of Guglielmo Vicario, making his Champions League debut for Tottenham in the high-stakes last 16 clash.

That decision was made by interim manager Igor Tudor, but it blew up in his face.

Just six minutes into his first start since October, Kinsky slipped while trying to play out from the back, allowing Marcos Llorente to take advantage and open the scoring.

That error rattled the Czech goalkeeper, and it didn’t take long for things to go from bad to worse.

Merely minutes after an error at the back allowed Antoine Griezmann to double Atletico’s advantage, a poor kick from Kinsky fell straight to Julian Alvarez, who walked the ball into an empty net.

With the match slipping away and the young keeper clearly shaken, Tudor made the decision to take him off in the first half, and the goalkeeper headed straight down the tunnel.

Speaking after the game, Porro made it clear that the squad is firmly behind their teammate and called for the goalkeeper to pick himself up and shake off his horrendous display.

“I want to send him a message of support,” Porro said (via The Standard). “It’s a tough time for him right now. The lad has been working really hard.

“He also had Vicario ahead of him, who was doing well, and when you get a chance, these things happen sometimes, that’s football.

“It reminds me of my slip in Scotland with Spain. You have to pick yourself up. I haven’t been able to talk to him yet, but I’ll give him a big hug now.”

Kinsky’s outing is a huge blow to his Tottenham career. It’s hard to see him playing another game for the club, and he will likely head out on loan at the end of the season.
