Pochettino gamble pays off vs Fulham

Tottenham Hotspur are through to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup after an impressive 3-0 win over Fulham on Sunday.

After consecutive disappointing defeats to Liverpool and Gent, it was clear that the Spurs boss wanted a reaction at Craven Cottage – and he certainly got one.

Picking another strong team, Tottenham looked back to their usual selves, with the malaise and lack of intensity from recent games no longer present.

With a home game against League One Millwall to come in the next round, Spurs have an excellent opportunity to possibly lift silverware this season.

However, given that many of the Tottenham side played both in Belgium and against Fulham, Pochettino must be mindful of burnout – which has blotted our season in recent campaigns.

With the return game against Gent to play on Thursday and a Premier League clash with Stoke City on Sunday, the Argentine manager must assess his players thoroughly and get his team selection right to keep the momentum established on Sunday.
