Pochettino in plea to sign international star – why he would be perfect for Tottenham

France Football are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is going to make a passionate plea in order to secure Adrien Rabiot’s signature.

The Paris Saint-Germain star, whose contract runs out in June, has a host of admirers and will be in demand if he opts to leave the French champions.

The report suggests that Tottenham’s offer to Rabiot is imminent and that Pochettino will speak to the player on Wednesday evening.

With Spurs in the midst of a hectic schedule and suffering from a spate of key injuries, any quality incoming at this stage of the season would be a huge boost.

In central midfield, Tottenham have sold Mousa Dembele and have also had injury concerns to central midfielders Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko. Eric Dier has just returned from injury.

This may well be a calculated move on Tottenham’s behalf as Rabiot has fallen out of favour at Paris Saint Germain.

Rabiot, 23, has hit 25 goals in 232 appearances for PSG and would be a welcome addition to the Spurs midfield.

The midfielder also has six full international caps as well as appearing in various French youth international teams.

Rabiot is an all-action athletic and technically gifted player, but it remains to be seen if Pochettino can secure his signature for Tottenham, or even if this deal is for this window or for the summer.
