Pochettino’s confidence comments a worry for Spurs fans

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted his side lacked confidence after watching them lose to Gent.

Spurs’ 2-0 defeat away at Liverpool on Saturday ended the club’s 11-game unbeaten run.

Pochettino’s side then lost 1-0 away to Gent in the first leg of their Europa League last-32 tie.

Jeremy Perbet scored the winner for the Belgian club just after the hour mark.

This came moments after Harry Kane hit the post and Moussa Dembele missed a gilt-edged chance for the away team.

After the game Pochettino admitted his side may lack confidence at the moment.

“Until the Liverpool game we are on a good run,” FourFourTwo quote the Spurs boss as saying.

“It’s true that maybe our confidence has dropped a little bit but today way a different competition and we tried to win the game, we tried to find the way to score goals.

“We have some clear chances to score and we are disappointed because we had a lot of opportunities, two or three very clear, before we concede a goal.

“It’s true that maybe it was not a good performance. It wasn’t the best game but we created chances to try to score but we can not score.”

The second-leg will played next Thursday at Wembley.

However in the Champions League group stage Spurs lost two of three fixtures played at their temporary European home ground.

On Sunday Pochettino’s side make the short trip across London to play Fulham. Slavisa Jokanovic’s team are currently positioned eighth in the Championship and will look to cause an upset.
