Tottenham Hotspur youngster Ryan Sessegnon is wanted by Ajax, with the Dutch giants keen to land the flying wideman on loan for the 2020-21 campaign, according to The Guardian.
Spurs signed the 20-year-old from Fulham for £25 million last summer, as per BBC Sport, but the talented star had an inconsistent first campaign at the North London club.
Injuries limited Sessegnon’s involvement under Mauricio Pochettino, while Jose Mourinho has been reluctant to use the Tottenham wideman in the Premier League since arriving at the club.
The report suggests that Mourinho is yet to make his mind up over the England under-21 man’s involvement next season.
Tottenham are clearly short at left-back after the departure of Jan Vertonghen and the club’s recruitment this summer will clearly play a role in where Sessegnon plays his football in 2020-21.
The versatile wide player can operate at full-back or as a winger, but has failed to get a consistent run of games in a Spurs shirt in either position.
Tottenham and Ajax have conducted plenty of business in recent years, with the English side signing Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Davinson Sanchez from the Amsterdam-based outfit.
The sides also faced off against each other in the Champions League semi-finals in 2018-19, with a Lucas Moura hat-trick in Holland famously sending Spurs through to the competition final.
Sessegnon is clearly a talented player and needs regular first-team football next season – only Mourinho can decide whether that will be at Tottenham or whether he’d be best served moving elsewhere on loan to achieve this.
