Tottenham Hotspur manager Roberto De Zerbi has taken a different approach to boost his side’s battle for Premier League survival.
According to The Telegraph, the Italian treated his squad to a lavish team-bonding meal in a desperate attempt to lift spirits and rebuild belief in the dressing room.
De Zerbi brought his players and staff together for the meal at Bacchanalia on Wednesday night.
Located in Mayfair, the restaurant is a famous high-end venue where main courses range from £40 to £130, and its interior features sculptures by Damien Hirst.
Tottenham are facing a serious threat of relegation from the Premier League. The Europa League holders are languishing in the relegation zone, but are just two points away from safety.
Spurs are also still searching for their first Premier League victory in 2026 and recently brought in De Zerbi to salvage their catastrophic campaign.
De Zerbi is the third manager to lead Tottenham this season, taking over from interim manager Igor Tudor, who failed to turn things around after replacing Thomas Frank.
Like his predecessor, De Zerbi kicked off his Tottenham tenure with a defeat, losing 1-0 to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
With just six games left in the season, De Zerbi has decided to try a different approach to get the team united in their battle for survival.
Tottenham are paying the price for sticking with Thomas Frank
Frank’s appointment was a massive red flag, especially after the hierarchy claimed that they wanted to compete across all fronts following their Europa League success.
The Danish manager did a fantastic job at Brentford, but was not the right candidate to succeed Ange Postecoglou.
For months, the writing was on the wall, but the club folded their arms and watched Frank run the club into the ground.
They finally took action when they were sucked into a relegation battle and are now facing the prospect of going down for the first time in the Premier League era.
At this point, Tottenham will need much more than a team-bonding meal to stop what now looks inevitable. But at the moment, their fate is still in their own hands.
