Six players Tottenham should sell this summer – View

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a crucial summer transfer window as the Europa League champions look to give a better account of themselves in the league next term.

All the excitement around winning the trophy cannot take away the shameful performances and results of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Unsurprisingly, club owners ENIC will not add anything to the club’s coffers, and the transfer team will have to rely on player sales to reinforce the squad.

Tottenham must sell fringe players and perhaps a big star to balance the books and give Spurs spending room in the transfer market.

Read on as we look at six players Tottenham could sell to raise money for a much-needed summer squad overhaul.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg

Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg enjoyed a magnificent campaign with Marseille on loan. Per reports from France, they want to make the deal permanent this summer.

Spurs can get around €20 million from the sale of the former Bayern Munich and Southampton star. The money should go to reinforcing Tottenham’s brittle engine room.

Manor Solomon

Tottenham flop Manor Solomon is another player who enjoyed a terrific campaign out on loan, helping Leeds United book their place in the Premier League with 10 goals and 12 assists.

Leeds want to make his deal permanent, and other teams are eyeing his signature. Tottenham hope to bank a significant sum from his sale to bolster the coffers.

Richarlison

Things have not gone Richarlison’s way since he arrived from Everton for around £60 million, and the time to cash in is now. Spurs must shift him off the books this summer.

Richarlison’s poor form has made it hard for him to attract suitors, but Tottenham will hope Everton, a club from the Saudi Pro League, or one from his native Brazil, come calling.

Yves Bissouma

Yves Bissouma had too many error-prone performances in a Spurs shirt this season, and the club must consider cutting its losses. He does not bring grit or control. Tottenham must sell.

Like Richarlison, his poor form means clubs are not queuing for his signature. Spurs need to start drumming up interest. His sale will add to the money to sign a new holding midfielder.

Bryan Gil

Tottenham winger Bryan Gil spent the season on loan at Girona, where he did not particularly light up La Liga. However, he was one of their better players in a poor campaign.

An injury curtailed his campaign by March, and not many will be interested in taking the punt, but Tottenham must find a creative way to sell.

Perhaps a loan with an obligation to buy can entice prospective suitors.

Cristian Romero

As much as many fans would hate it, Spurs should sell Cristian Romero this summer. He will generate a massive fee, and the noise around him suggests he is open to a move to Spain.

With Atletico Madrid keen, Spurs need to milk as much as they can get from this deal. He is worth every penny they will pay. The funds from his sale can reinforce the defence and other positions.

Free to Leave

Tottenham learnt their lesson with Timo Werner, and Spurs must let him return to RB Leipzig. The same goes for Mathys Tel, who has not done enough to warrant a big-money purchase.

Meanwhile, Sergio Reguilon will likely be allowed to leave Tottenham for free as his contract expires at the end of June.

He is a fringe player, and Spurs aren’t exactly missing out on massive funds by letting him walk.
