Solanke & Kolo Muani ruled out of Wolves clash as Tottenham injury woes worsen

Tottenham Hotspur will return to Premier League action this weekend as they host Wolverhampton Wanderers in North London on Saturday night.

However, Thomas Frank’s side will be without attacking duo Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani.

Solanke has not played for Tottenham since their 2-0 win against Manchester City in late August as he continues to recover from an ankle problem.

The 28-year-old made progress last week by stepping up his individual work on the training ground, but Frank confirmed on Friday that the Wolves fixture will come too soon.

“His ankle injury has been a little tricky,” Frank said in his pre-match press conference

“It’s nothing big. We’re relatively positive he will be back quickly. It’s not perfect, but we’re going forward in the right direction.”

When asked if the striker suffered a setback, Frank said: “When you’ve had that bit of pain, it’s important to get it right. He wasn’t (training) on the grass today, but he has been during the week.”

Kolo Muani will also sit out the game against Wolves after suffering a dead leg in training earlier this month.

The France international has only made one brief appearance for Spurs since joining on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, coming off the bench in the Champions League victory over Villarreal.

“Kolo Muani’s dead leg is dragging on,” he said. “He’ll be a few more days, and he’s not available.”

The silver lining for Spurs is that Pape Matar Sarr has returned to training and could be named in the squad to face Wolves after missing the EFL Cup win against Doncaster Rovers as a precaution.

Frank said he was left out due to a “minor” issue and confirmed the midfielder trained fully on Friday.

“Everyone from midweek is available again,” he said. “Pape [Matar Sarr] was a precaution (in midweek), he trained today, so that’s a positive.”

Elsewhere, Radu Dragusin is still in his rehabilitation phase as he continues to recover from an ACL injury, while Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are long-term absentees.
