Some Tottenham fans react on Twitter to Sergio Reguilon’s debut vs Chelsea

Tottenham Hotspur fans claimed local bragging rights on Tuesday night, with the Lilywhites progressing past Chelsea in the Carabao Cup.

Spurs are in the midst of a fixture pile-up and as such Jose Mourinho rotated his side for the cup clash against the Blues in midweek.

This saw Tottenham hand summer signing Sergio Reguilon his debut for the club after a recent big-money move to North London from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

The versatile wideman operated as a left wing-back in a new-look 3-5-2 system, with the Spaniard getting his first taste of English football in the London derby.

Reguilon started slowly for Tottenham and initially struggled to contain Timo Werner and the Chelsea attack, who looked to take advantage of the fact he was playing his first game for the club.

However, with Spurs growing into the game in the second half and having much the better of the play, the left-sided star started to have an impact and provided a delicious assist for Erik Lamela’s late equaliser – before the hosts won the tie on penalties.

While Tottenham fans are excited to see former hero Gareth Bale back in a Lilywhites shirt, many were massively encouraged by Reguilon’s first showing for the club.

Many took to Twitter after the game to praise the new Spurs signing, with the best tweets below:
