Tottenham Hotspur have submitted a bid to sign Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo this summer (h/t the Mirror).
Spurs have followed the appointment of Brentford boss Thomas Frank with an immediate move for his talisman last season.
Mbeumo bagged 20 goals and created 17 big chances under the Danish tactician last term. Frank hailed him as an unbelievable player.
The Cameroon international was a lethal weapon and would be an excellent addition to the Spurs frontline.
Spurs submitted an offer worth £65 million plus £5 million in add-ons. It is £10 million more than what Manchester United proposed.
Frank reportedly wants him in North London, but Spurs might not be able to match the wages United can offer.
The North Londoners want to entice him with UEFA Champions League football.
Spurs must pull out all the stops for Mbeumo – View
Mbeumo is a goalscorer and a creator. Only three players scored more than his 20 goals while leading the whole top flight for expected assists (9.3 xA).
The former Troyes winger is also an excellent ball-carrier. He is seventh among attackers for progressive carries in the Premier League.
Remarkably, nine of his carries ended with a goal. He registered more goal-ending carries than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues. He also recorded two assist-ending carries.
Mbeumo made more off-the-ball runs while a teammate was in possession (1,038) than any other Premier League player in 2024/25.
In terms of total distance covered, only Bruno Guimaraes (421.0 km) and Daniel Munoz (389.6 km) outpaced him, with 387.6 km to his name.
And when it came to winning possession in the final third, only two players did it more often.
Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo won possession 37 times and Mbeumo’s Brentford teammate Mikkel Damsgaard recorded 35, compared to his 32 recoveries.
If Tottenham can get Brentford to accept a chunk of that £70 million fee in bonuses, Spurs need to pounce for Mbeumo.
He is one of the most lethal attackers in the league and would bolster the roster.
With his relentless running, elite ball progression, and end product in the final third, Mbeumo is tailor-made for Tottenham.
At 25, Mbeumo is entering the peak of his powers. He has already proven himself as one of the most dynamic attackers in the Premier League.
Signing him would be a statement of intent and exactly the kind of transfer Spurs need to close the gap on the league’s elite.
