Tottenham Hotspur bolstered their chances of surviving what has been an enthralling Premier League relegation battle with a dramatic 1-1 draw against Liverpool at Anfield.
Spurs fans haven’t had much to celebrate this season, but the situation became even more worrying at the start of 2026 when their losing streak left them hovering dangerously above the drop zone.
Not even Igor Tudor’s arrival was enough to turn the club’s fortunes around as the Croatian manager lost his opening four consecutive games in charge.
However, the draw against Liverpool may be the spark that Tottenham needs to reignite their campaign and bolster their Premier League survival battle.
The result snapped Tottenham’s six-match losing streak across all competitions and was an ideal response to the 5-2 humiliation they suffered at the hands of Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
Tottenham showed fight, character, and determination to get a point at Anfield, and the performance has drawn widespread praise.
They’re not out of the woods yet, but the result has given them a slender advantage in the fiercely contested battle near the bottom of the Premier League table.
Tottenham now sit just one point ahead of fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest and West Ham United and two behind Leeds United in 15th place.
With just eight matches left, that point at Anfield could be vital at the end of the season.
According to the latest projections from Opta’s supercomputer, Spurs still have a realistic chance of staying in the Premier League.
The model predicts that Tottenham will end the season with about 40.43 points. If that total is reached, the data suggests the club would finish in 16th place.
That outcome would see Spurs survive by a narrow margin, finishing roughly two points ahead of Forest and three above West Ham.
The numbers also suggest that the safety line this season could be lower than usual, with around 38 points likely enough to avoid relegation.
That means Tottenham need at least two wins and two draws from their remaining eight games to reach their target.
But that task shouldn’t be underestimated, considering they’re still looking for their first win in 2026.
