Thomas Frank says Daniel Levy deserves ‘massive praise’ for his impact at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has sent a heartfelt message to former club chairman Daniel Levy.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against West Ham United, Frank admitted that Levy deserves “massive praise” for his work during his 24 years at the helm.

Levy joined Tottenham back in 2001 but was removed from his post earlier this month by the club’s majority shareholders, the Lewis family.

Since then, director Peter Charrington has stepped in as non-executive chairman, while Vinai Venkatesham retains his role as Chief Executive Officer.

“Daniel deserves massive praise,” Frank said. “He’s been here 24 years, must be one of the longest-serving chairmen that has been in the Premier League ever.

“The things he’s built, the success he’s been a massive part of, you can’t praise that enough.”

During Levy’s tenure, Tottenham established themselves as one of the most profitable clubs in the world.

He oversaw the construction of the club’s new Hotspur Way training centre and the 62,850-capacity Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Frank described those projects as laying the “foundation for the future”.

“I think the two big, big things is he’s actually laid I would say the foundation for the future in terms of this fantastic world-class training centre and of course a world-class stadium,” Frank added.

“Both those two, we are at a top level, so we can build from there to hopefully compete with the best clubs in the future. That is Daniel.”

Frank preparing for debut London derby against West Ham

Frank is preparing for his first taste of the London derby with Tottenham set to take on West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday evening.

Tottenham went into the international break on the back of a narrow 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth and will hope to get back to winning ways after their fantastic start to the season.

Frank’s side beat newly promoted Burnley and Manchester City in their opening two games.
