Tottenham Hotspur boss Thomas Frank has played down speculation over a change in ownership, insisting he feels stable and assured despite interest in the north London club.
The Dane only took charge of Spurs this summer, but has already had to deal with turbulence off the pitch following the departure of long-serving executive chairman Daniel Levy.
However, Frank said that he has been reassured by the Lewis family and chief executive Vinai Venkatesham about the club’s future.
Frank said (via THFC’s website): “Daniel had been here for almost 25 years, and then the change came.
“Okay, didn’t expect that, but since then the Lewis family has been very transparent, very good in the way they have communicated, and it’s very clear the club is not for sale.
“Vinai, on top of everything, is very clear and for me personally, I feel in a very stable environment going into work every day and also learn over a lot of years that the only thing that helps me and helps the team is I do everything I can to focus on the team and players.”
Enic Sports & Developments Holdings Ltd, which controls almost 87% of Spurs, reaffirmed in a statement that the club is not for sale and that Enic has no plans to offload its stake.
Sources close to the majority shareholder Joe Lewis’ family also insisted that unsolicited and unnecessary interest would not change their commitment to driving success on the pitch.
Earick, a former DJ and ex-NASA researcher who now runs technology and media firm Redacted RnD, has until October 24 under UK takeover rules to either table a formal offer or withdraw.
His consortium is the third party to show interest in Tottenham after two other failed approaches this month, including one involving former Newcastle United investor Amanda Staveley.
However, the noise around ownership is secondary to Frank’s task of helping Spurs deliver on the field, and he will focus on that.
